What does the name Turtlewings mean and where did it come from? The name Turtlewings is short for the longer company name The turtle dreams of wind and wings, which is a nonsense sentence allowing for many interpretations. The whole long story behind this idea I will put online soon!
Is Turtlewings an arts and crafts based company? We do not position ourselves in any one creative discipline. We strive to provide a variety of opportunities for children to express their ideas. Our main purpose is to advocate and promote creative thinking through design methods.
What languages are your programs in? Our main language is English, but we have conducted workshops for both adults and children in both Flemish and French. We have a great collaborative group that is multi-lingual, as well as, a wealth of amazing volunteers which represent many different countries throughout the world. So, we have the potential to accommodate a variety of languages.
Does Turtlewings do birthday parties?Yes, we started offering birthday’s in April 2010 at the Turtlewings Atelier on 165 Rue Washington. (more info here) We do not do birthday’s at this time outside of the Atelier.
Do you ever teach adult creative workshops? We have had many activities in the past geared towards educators and in the coming months we will continue with these workshops for all adults searching for a creative outlet and to learn a bit more about how to promote creativity with children. Can other creative companies or persons organize activities at Turtlewings? It never ceases to amaze me the amount of extremely creative people there are in Brussels. Turtlewings is all about collaboration and sharing so, we welcome and invite anyone with a creative idea to contact us!
Does Turtlewings ever do small renovations in family homes? We can work one on one with a child, as well as, a large group of children, adults or a family if that is the request.
